Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak, working with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has advised Xior Student Housing on the Polish leg of its EUR 939 million acquisition of 5,341 residential units from the Basecamp Group and European Student Housing Funds I and II. Paul Hastings advised Basecamp. Denmark's Moalem Weitemeyer and Sweden's Vinge reportedly advised Xior as well, while Germany's FPS Fritze Wicke Seelig reportedly advised Basecamp.

The traded portfolio includes 5,341 purpose-built student accommodation units, "spread over 11 newly built, state-of-the-art assets (eight operational and three projects under development)," according to a Xior press statement. "All residences are situated in top-tier student cities in Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Sweden." The Polish assets included two buildings in Lodz and one in Katowice, for a total of 1,851 operational units.

Basecamp is a vertically integrated investment manager, developer, and operator of student housing with the objective to create smart student living spaces.

According to SK&S, Belgium's "Xior is the number one student housing platform in continental Europe, with a portfolio of 26,526 units and a presence in 43 top-tier university cities in eight countries, serving a target market of 8.5 million students."

The Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer team included Vienna-based Counsel Gernot Fritz and Associates Iris Hammerschmid and Verena Kirchmair, with further team members in Germany, Belgium, the UK, and the Netherlands.
